Dealership IT Services in Jacksonville, Sized for a City This Spread Out

A Jacksonville dealer group can run a store at the Beaches, another on the Southside and a third in Orange Park and still call all of it home. That’s normal here. The IT behind those stores usually isn’t one thing, though. It’s a carrier for each building, a phone vendor, a camera company, the DMS help line and somebody in the office who knows which one to call when the printers in F&I quit.

We support Jacksonville dealerships remotely, with field technicians sent out when a job needs hands, and elsewhere in Florida we already work with client dealerships in the Orlando, Tampa and Miami metros. Helion Technologies has worked only for automotive and heavy truck dealerships since 1997.

This page belongs with our dealership IT pages for the metros we cover, and it’s about what changes for stores in Duval, St. Johns, Clay, Nassau and Baker counties.

  • Remote firstMost tickets close over the phone or in a remote session, so a jammed bridge over the St. Johns doesn’t set the pace of a fix.
  • A technician when it takes handsField technicians go out for a failed switch, new cabling in a service drive or a rooftop opening in St. Johns County.
  • Security monitoring that never stopsSecurity support runs 24/7, with live, US-based analysts who step in the moment they see signs of an attack.

You’re on Eastern time, and so are we. Your Jacksonville stores reach a live technician Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, through our dealership help desk. After-hours callbacks come with our help desk plans, and onsite visits are included on our Full Service plan. Comparing providers? Get each one’s response targets on paper, and our dealership IT support SLA guide shows what belongs in that document.

Remote Fix or a Technician at the Store?

Usually remote. A ticket opens with our Desktop Support team when a store calls, emergencies move straight to a Systems Engineer, and a field technician drives out only when someone has to put hands on a switch, a cable or a rack. The table below sorts six common problems.

That matters more here than in most cities. Counting the St. Johns River and its marshes, Jacksonville covers about 874 square miles, more than any other city in the lower 48, according to Census figures reported by JaxToday. Nobody should drive across that to reset a password.

The times in that table are targets from our service level objectives, not guarantees. If a ticket needs attention, call your Client Technology Manager, who handles escalations. Our guide to onsite vs remote IT support for dealerships has more detail, and you can use the help desk metrics a dealer principal should see to compare any provider, including us.

On the first row: we verify every caller before we change an account. Help desk caller verification explains why a voice that sounds right isn’t enough.

One Setup on Both Sides of the St. Johns

Plenty of groups here have stores on both sides of the river. If one sits on the Westside and another in Arlington, the drive between them can take a while when traffic backs up on the Buckman or the Hart.

We set each store up the same way so the river stops mattering for most fixes. We document the network closet, manage the switches and firewall remotely, put the equipment on battery backup and add a second internet line from a different carrier, all part of our dealership network services. Your staff get the same logins at every rooftop and the same dealership phone system. If a fix works at one store, we can push it to the others from one remote session. It saves the drive.

Storms are the other reason. In 2017 Hurricane Irma passed west of the city, backed up the St. Johns and brought what News4JAX called the worst flooding in the city’s history. If your store is near the river, keep tested backups far from it with backup and disaster recovery for dealerships, and keep a written DMS outage plan for the days the system is down.

Dealership Cybersecurity in Jacksonville

Florida law asks less of a dealer than the headlines suggest. The Florida Digital Bill of Rights only covers companies with more than $1 billion in global revenue that also meet a second test, so it leaves out almost every store. The breach law is the one that applies. Under the Florida Information Protection Act, you have 30 days to notify affected Floridians, and our guide to Florida data privacy law for dealerships covers both laws.

Most of the risk is still the attack itself. In CDK Global’s 2024 survey, 35% of dealers said they’d had a cyberattack or incident that year, and 92% of those said it caused real financial or operational harm. Our dealership cybersecurity service puts a live, US-based security operations center on your network through managed detection and response, with endpoint detection and response on every computer and multi-factor sign-in on email and remote access.

Staff get trained too. Our security awareness training is built for dealership employees and covers things like a fake payoff request or a caller pretending to be from the DMS vendor. The FTC Safeguards Rule requires that training, and our FTC Safeguards Rule checklist lists what else the rule expects.

If someone pastes a customer’s details into a free chatbot, that’s a leak as well. Managed AI gives staff a private, governed place to do that work.

Where We Work Around Jacksonville

Florida has 953 franchised new-car dealers, according to NADA Data 2025, and around Jacksonville they tend to bunch up on a handful of roads. Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park is lined with them. So is Atlantic Boulevard heading toward the Beaches, and Philips Highway down near the Avenues. Several sizable dealer groups are based here, too.

The truck dealers sit on the Westside along Pickettville Road and Beaver Street, and on the Northside along New Berlin Road, not far from the port. JAXPORT is one of the nation’s largest vehicle-handling ports and moved more than 506,000 vehicles in 2025, by its own count. Statewide, the Florida Automobile Dealers Association speaks for franchised dealers in Tallahassee. Stories from groups that switched to us are in Helion’s dealership case studies.

Common Questions

Already a client and need help right now? Reach support through the contact page.

Does Helion Technologies offer dealership IT services in Jacksonville?
Yes, for automotive and heavy truck dealerships in Jacksonville and across Northeast Florida, covering managed IT, cybersecurity, Tekion enablement, backup and recovery, and FTC Safeguards compliance. Most help happens remotely, and field technicians go out for the jobs that need hands. During live support hours, a support agent answers in 82 seconds on average.
Do you support heavy truck dealerships around Jacksonville?
We do, and truck stores have been part of our work for years. That includes Karmak and Procede shops, parts counters that stay busy all day and branches spread across North Florida. Our pages on truck dealership branch IT support and the truck dealership parts counter outage plan cover the day-to-day, and heavy truck dealership cybersecurity covers the security side.
When does a Jacksonville store get a technician on site instead of a remote fix?
When the fix needs hands on the equipment, such as a failed switch, new cabling or a store move. Our onsite target is the same day for an emergency and within two business days for everything else, and onsite visits are included on our Full Service plan. Password resets, printer trouble and most network problems are handled remotely.
Does Helion have an office in Jacksonville?
No. Helion Technologies is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, and supports Jacksonville-area stores remotely, with field technicians dispatched when a job needs someone on site. Your Jacksonville stores reach a live technician Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.
How long does a Florida dealership have to report a data breach?
Thirty days to notify affected Floridians, under Section 501.171 of the Florida Statutes. If 500 or more people are affected, Florida’s Department of Legal Affairs gets a notice as well, and the FTC Safeguards Rule adds its own notice to the FTC at that same 500 mark. Our incident response plan template keeps the deadlines together, dealership privacy laws by state compares Florida with other states, and your attorney makes the final call.
Our group already has an IT manager. Where does Helion fit?
Right beside them. With co-managed IT, your IT manager keeps the keys, the vendor relationships and the final say, and we add the help desk, a co-managed security operations center and extra hands for projects that never make it to the top of one person’s list. The co-managed IT responsibility matrix spells out who owns what, so nobody wonders whose ticket it is.
What do managed IT services in Jacksonville cost a dealership?
It depends. Your store count and the services you pick set the price, so we quote each group rather than post a rate card. For a local yardstick, a network and systems administrator in the Jacksonville metro averaged $98,450 a year in May 2025, per the BLS wage estimates, and one person still can’t cover every store. Our dealership IT support cost guide explains what moves the price, and you can request a price quote for your own stores.
