Dealership IT Services in Orlando, for the Fastest-Growing Metro in Florida

The Orlando metro grew by 37,690 people between July 2024 and July 2025, the most of any metro in Florida and the 10th-largest gain in the country, according to Census estimates reported by WLRN. Those people need cars. They also bring work trucks, delivery vans and the freight that keeps a parts counter busy.

What a dealer group needs from IT doesn’t change much with the headcount. A store off I-4 in Sanford, another on East Colonial Drive and a used lot down US 192 in Kissimmee still want one DMS, one phone system and one set of logins that work the same way everywhere. That’s simple on a whiteboard. It’s a lot harder when one IT person is driving the 417 between them.

We’ve been doing this since 1997, and we work with client dealerships in the Orlando metro today. Helion Technologies supports automotive and heavy truck dealerships and nobody else, and this page is one of our city-by-city dealership IT pages. Everything below is about Orlando and the four counties around it.

  • Remote firstMost tickets close by phone or remote session, so tourist traffic on I-4 never decides how long a store stays down.
  • On site when it needs handsField technicians are dispatched for a failed switch, new cabling or a new rooftop opening out in Lake Nona or Clermont.
  • Watched around the clockSecurity support runs 24/7, with live, US-based analysts who step in the moment they see signs of an attack.

We share your time zone. Our dealership help desk works from Baltimore, and your Orlando stores reach a live technician Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. After-hours callbacks come with our help desk plans, and onsite visits are included on our Full Service plan. If you’re comparing providers, ask each one for the help desk metrics a dealer principal should see and lay the answers next to each other.

A Car Store and a Truck Store on the Same Stretch of I-4

Central Florida runs on trucks as much as on tourists. Plenty of groups here own a franchised car store and a commercial truck dealership a few exits apart, and the two look alike on an org chart and nothing alike on a Tuesday morning. Here’s where they split, and what we set up so one IT team can look after both.

What differsCar store and truck storeWho feels itWhat we set up
The busy hoursCar stores sell late into the evening and all day Saturday. Truck shops and parts counters open early, and some run a second shift. Both, on different clocksUpdates and maintenance windows planned store by store, around each one’s quiet hours, not one calendar for the whole group.
The DMSCar stores mostly run CDK, Reynolds and Reynolds or Tekion. Truck stores mostly run Karmak or Procede.Every storeOne help desk that knows both kinds of system, so a ticket from either store lands with someone who’s seen it before.
Laptops off the lotA car store’s computers rarely leave the building. A truck store sends mobile service trucks to roadside jobs with laptops and customer records on board.Truck storeThe same encryption, multi-factor sign-in and endpoint protection on a laptop in a service truck as on a desk in the showroom.
Wireless in the shopBoth shops lean on OEM diagnostic tools, and a truck shop’s bays are wider and taller, with more steel for the signal to fight through. Both, truck shops moreA wireless survey before a bay is added, and shop tools on their own network segment, away from the DMS and the F&I office.
Customer recordsCar stores hold retail buyers’ credit applications and deal jackets. Truck stores hold fleet accounts and commercial customers’ files.BothOne written security program that covers every store, built on the FTC Safeguards Rule, with access limited to the people who need it.

Read the last column again and you’ll notice there isn’t a gadget in it. It’s mostly about deciding things once, for every store, so the truck side doesn’t grow up on a different network with different passwords and a different person to call. A complimentary IT and cybersecurity assessment shows where your stores already match and where they don’t.

Running trucks? Our heavy truck dealership IT page is the place to start, and mobile service security for truck dealerships covers the laptops that leave the lot. Groups with branches spread around the region should also read networking a multi-branch truck dealership.

The Numbers Behind the Help Desk

Four Counties, One Network Design

Most groups around here didn’t plan to own stores in Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties. It happened one buy-sell at a time. And each time, somebody inherits a network closet with unlabeled cables, a firewall password that left with the previous owner and a phone system only one employee ever figured out. That first Monday after closing is a long one.

We give every store the same network design, the same firewall rules, the same dealership phone system and one set of logins, so a finance manager who moves from Altamonte Springs to St. Cloud just sits down and works. A second internet line from a different carrier takes over by itself when the first one drops, as part of our dealership network services.

Being inland doesn’t take Orlando off the storm map, either. Hurricane Ian brought what officials called historic flooding to Seminole County in September 2022, and many residents had to evacuate, as Central Florida Public Media reported. Backup and disaster recovery for dealerships keeps tested copies of your data well outside the state.

Dealership Cybersecurity in Orlando

Florida’s big privacy law mostly isn’t about you. The Florida Digital Bill of Rights took effect July 1, 2024, and it reaches companies with more than $1 billion in global revenue that also pass a second test, which leaves out nearly every dealership. The rule that does reach your stores is the breach law. The Florida Information Protection Act gives a business 30 days to tell affected Floridians, and our guide to Florida data privacy law for dealerships goes through both.

The phone matters too. Two people once called our help desk claiming to work at a dealership, but they really worked for a vendor the store had approved for one accounting task, and that vendor had let several of its staff share a single login. They got nowhere. We told the dealership and handed over the recordings, and the vendor was replaced. We’ve verified every caller since November 2023, usually with a one-time code sent to the email or mobile number already on their record, and our page on help desk caller verification explains it.

None of the threats are local. CDK Global’s 2024 survey of dealers found that 35% had a cyberattack or incident that year, and 92% of those said it caused real financial or operational damage. Our dealership cybersecurity puts a live, US-based security operations center on your network through managed detection and response, with endpoint detection and response on every computer and multi-factor authentication on email and remote access. Security awareness training teaches everyone with a login to spot a fake call.

Then there’s the leak nobody sees. A salesperson pastes a customer’s details into a free chatbot to tidy up an email. Managed AI gives your staff a private, governed workspace for that instead.

Where We Work Around Orlando

Florida has 953 franchised new-car dealers, according to NADA Data 2025, and Central Florida holds a big share of them. You know where they sit. There’s the cluster off I-4 in Sanford, East Colonial Drive, South Orange Blossom Trail, US 192 through Kissimmee and State Road 50 out in Clermont, and the truck dealers tend to sit closer to the warehouse districts south and west of downtown. Locally, dealers have the Central Florida Auto Dealers Association in Sanford, and statewide the Florida Automobile Dealers Association.

One technician can only stand in one store, and around Orlando the next store might be an hour away on a bad afternoon. A team solves that. Stories from groups that made the switch are in Helion’s dealership case studies.

Does Helion Technologies offer dealership IT services in Orlando?
Yes, across Orlando and Central Florida, with managed IT, cybersecurity, Tekion enablement, backup and recovery, and FTC Safeguards compliance for automotive and heavy truck dealerships. Most help happens remotely, a support agent answers in 82 seconds on average during live support hours, and field technicians are dispatched for the jobs that need hands.
What do managed IT services in Orlando cost a dealership?
It depends on how many stores you run and which services you choose, so we don’t publish a rate card. After-hours callbacks come with our help desk plans, and onsite visits are included on our Full Service plan. If you’re shopping, our look at the best managed IT providers for dealerships helps you compare, and the dealership IT budget checklist keeps next year’s plan honest. When you want a real number, request a price quote.
Does the Florida Digital Bill of Rights apply to car dealerships?
Almost never, because it only covers companies with more than $1 billion in global revenue that also meet a second test, such as earning half their revenue from online ad sales. It took effect July 1, 2024. The rules that do apply to an Orlando store are the FTC Safeguards Rule and Florida’s breach law. Your attorney makes the final call, and our FTC Safeguards Rule checklist covers the federal side piece by piece.
Does Helion have an office in Orlando?
No. Helion Technologies is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, and supports Orlando-area stores remotely, with field technicians dispatched when a job needs someone on site. Your Orlando stores reach a live technician Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. Our guide to onsite vs remote IT support shows how the two work together.
What does Florida law require after a dealership data breach?
Thirty days. That’s how long the Florida Information Protection Act, Section 501.171 of the Florida Statutes, gives a business to notify affected Floridians after a breach, and when 500 or more people are affected the Department of Legal Affairs gets a notice too. The FTC Safeguards Rule adds its own notice to the FTC at 500 or more consumers. Our incident response plan template keeps those deadlines in one place, and dealership privacy laws by state compares Florida with the rest of the country.
We already have an IT manager. Do we have to replace them?
Not at all. With co-managed IT, your IT manager keeps the keys, the vendor relationships and the final say, while Helion adds the help desk, a co-managed security operations center and extra hands for the projects one person can’t cover from Sanford to Kissimmee. They stay in charge. They just stop working alone. Our co-managed IT responsibility matrix spells out who owns what.
Do you support commercial truck dealerships in Orlando?
We do, and truck stores have been part of our work for years. We support Karmak and Procede shops, early parts counters and service trucks that take laptops out to the job. If you own car and truck stores both, one team can look after the two of them on the same standards. For the security side, read heavy truck dealership cybersecurity and how the FTC Safeguards Rule applies to heavy truck dealers.
